I want to thank you personally for your leadership, insights and knowledge which allowed us the confidence to trust you as our fractional Chief Marketing Officer.
Because of you and your team our business has more than doubled over a relatively short period of time and so has my personal income.
I can’t tell you enough how grateful we are for what you have been able to accomplish for us and we want to continue to add to our marketing cost because our formula has been that
for every dollar we spend with you we are putting at least 5 back into our pocket AFTER we subtract what we spent.
That’s an amazing cost/benefit that I have never received before in any of our previous marketing endeavors. Feel free to use me as a reference.
I am happy to share our experience with anyone who is fortunate enough for you to take them on as a client.

HOW DID WE DO IT?
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[STRATEGY] When I first met Dan Goodwin the owner of Provident 1031. He informed me that he had not had much luck working with marketing companies and that I probably wouldn’t work out but that I had come highly recommended and he wanted to see for himself. Dan had just invested a significant amount of time and money in a brand-new website and investment portal that did not work. I was actually stunned when I saw the site. The site looked as if it had been created by a third grader. I actually felt sorry for Dan, realizing he had been taken to the cleaners.
I listened as Dan described for me his niche service, trying to absorb all the technical finesse of his services. I made copious notes and recordings of our conversation which I reviewed several times following our meeting. Dan’s goal was simple – he wanted a site that would generate leads 24/7 and he wanted to provide a great online customer experience.
The obstacles to getting there were obvious to me from the start. First, he just invested a lot of money on a website that did not work. Second, he was one of many in this niche and was invisible to search engines,. Third, though Dan was great at what he did, online he looked like everyone else – boring.
The one thing that stood out as a huge positive to me was Dan’s enthusiasm and winning attitude. You knew he was a winner. I saw it in his eyes that Dan was wanting to do what it took to win. Another thing I learned was that Dan was an excellent writer and was publishing content for a syndicated publication each month. That is where the lights went off for me and I knew we could leverage his syndicated publication to build his online authority.
Still, Dan’s company looked like all his competitors. I remember telling Dan that we need a differentiator we can build on, and I wanted to think about it. Then it dawned on me after watching Sara Blakely teach a masterclass on self-made entrepreneurship, that Dan had the same personality and dynamics of Sara and would perform great in front of a camera and that we should do a masterclass teaching about the 1031 Exchange. I presented my idea to Dan, and he liked it, but it was a significant undertaking, and he wanted to consider it further.
A few hours later, my phone rang; it was Dan. He said, ‘Let’s do it.’
I then did my research and due diligence and met with my team. I laid out our objectives which were as follows:
This is a quick snapshot of the proejct when we started. Today we have built a lead generation machine. We still have a lot of work to do to make Dan one of the top 3 leaders in tax-smart investment strategies but we will get there. It truly is teamwork and it is fun working with Dan and his team. We all feel we are making a difference.

[CONTENT MARKETING] In developing a content marketing strategy, we evaluated our local competitors. We found over 377 local competitors in the Austin marketplace for ALIGN Pilates Studios. We narrowed that list down to visibility in the marketplace and came to our Top 20 list which we watch continually to determine if our marketing strategy is working or if we need to pivot based on either us losing visibility or a competitor gaining in visibility. Our top competitors today is five domains. Three are national Pilates chains and two are local. We then evaluate our content strategy on which content topics and keywords are going to give us the advantage over our competitors thus increasing our visibility. There are many other factors that go into this but this is where a good content marketing strategy begins.

[MASTERCLASSES] When we came up with the idea for a masterclass, it was to be a differentiator from all the competitors in the marketplace who all looked the same. We called the right shot! This was the key differentiator that made Daniel Goodwin, and his company Provident 1031 a leader in this niche space. At the time, the concept of a masterclass was new. No other companies were leading with the concept of creating informative content that was easy to digest, educational, entertaining, conversational, and created trust. The results and impact were phenomenal! We have had over 1,0D0+ accredited investors register and watch the masterclasses and over 50 high-net-worth investors request a strategy call appointment with Dan in just 12 months. Since our first masterclass on the 1031 Exchange, we have produced two additional masterclasses, the Qualified Opportunity Zones (QOZ) Masterclass, and just recently in late May, four Oil and Gas Masterclasses.
All the masterclasses were professionally produced by our own 2-time Emmy Award Winning producer Brent Tallent. Brent, working closely with Dan Goodwin and utilizing Dan’s knowledge and writing skills, produced over 20 educational, entertaining, and informative videos that made learning about tax-smart strategies easy and fun. This professional production was carefully and thoughtfully compiled over months, and the results have been beyond expectations even to this day.
Dur accomplishments include:
Bottom Line: The masterclass strategy for Provident 1031 shows that educational content marketing can effectively generate high-quality leads from sophisticated prospects, particularly accredited investors with high net worth. With over 1,000 engaged prospects leading to more than 500 qualified appointments, this approach produces measurable results that traditional marketing methods struggle to achieve in a niche market like 1031 exchanges.

[VIDEO] Our challenge was clear: transform complex dental laboratory processes into engaging, educational content that would build trust, demonstrate authority, and differentiate them in a crowded marketplace.
We envisioned a video strategy that would pull back the curtain on the dental laboratory artistry, showcasing the human expertise and cutting-edge technology behind every dental restoration. Rather than sterile product demonstrations, we crafted inspirational stories that connect—showing dental professionals not just what Burbank Dental Lab creates, but team stories, patient transformations, and how their work transforms patient lives and helps doctors with their dental practice success.
Our 44-video content library, at the time of writing this content, combines cinematic production values with authentic workplace storytelling, led by 2-time Grammy Award winner Brent Talent. HOW DID WE DO IT?
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[STRATEGY] When Mark Haines approached me about developing a membership website for Coaches Hot Seat, he had acquired a dormant domain from Stanford students who weren’t maximizing its potential and were wanting to sell it to someone who would take it to the next level. They chose Mark who brought something rare to the table – exceptional storytelling ability combined with deep college football knowledge and a clear vision for quality content.
The challenge was creating a platform that could support Mark’s ambitious content strategy while building a sustainable subscriber base that would eventually attract premium advertising revenue. Mark had a unique approach: he wanted to focus on the “hot seat” concept – identifying and analyzing the top 10 college football coaches whose jobs were in jeopardy each week.
What impressed me most was Mark’s commitment to delayed gratification. Instead of rushing to monetize through advertising, he understood that building authentic audience engagement and traffic would create far more valuable advertising opportunities down the line. This strategic patience is rare in digital media and became the foundation of our entire approach.
Our primary objectives were:
The results validate this approach: Tim Jones recently called our site’s “look & feel approach truly innovative,” and we’re receiving weekly advertising inquiries as traffic continues to surge during peak college football season.
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[BRAND DEVELOPMENT] Creating a memorable brand for Coaches Hot Seat required balancing the intensity of college football with the analytical sophistication of Mark’s content. Our comprehensive brand development established visual authority that immediately communicates credibility and expertise in the competitive sports media landscape.
Professional Logo Design: We developed a distinctive logo that captures the urgency and drama of coaches on the “hot seat” while maintaining professional credibility that appeals to both casual fans and industry insiders. The mark works effectively across all platforms – from social media avatars to email headers to potential merchandise applications.
Strategic Color Palette: The brand colors reflect the intensity of college football while ensuring excellent readability across all content formats. Every color choice supports the site’s primary function: delivering Mark’s analysis in the most engaging, accessible format possible.
Custom Site Design: Rather than using generic sports website templates, we created a completely custom design that prioritizes content consumption and subscriber experience. The layout guides readers naturally through Mark’s weekly rankings and detailed analyses without distraction.
Data Visualization Excellence: Mark’s “Hot Seat” rankings and coaching analysis require clear, intuitive data presentation. We developed custom formatting for his weekly top-10 lists, coach profiles, and trending insights that make complex information immediately understandable and shareable.
Mobile-First Approach: Recognizing that college football fans consume content on-the-go, every design element was optimized for mobile devices while maintaining desktop sophistication.
Cohesive Brand Experience: From email newsletter design to social media graphics, every touchpoint reinforces Coaches Hot Seat’s position as the premier source for coaching analysis, creating a professional brand presence that attracts both subscribers and potential advertisers.
The visual identity immediately differentiates Coaches Hot Seat from generic sports blogs while supporting Mark’s content strategy through thoughtful, strategic design choices that enhance rather than compete with his exceptional writing.
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[PLATFORM] Building a membership platform for sports content requires understanding the unique consumption patterns of college football fans. Unlike traditional news sites, Coaches Hot Seat needed to accommodate the seasonal intensity of college football while maintaining year-round engagement.
We developed a sophisticated content delivery system that could handle Mark’s high-volume writing schedule while maintaining a premium user experience.
The platform features:
Subscriber-First Architecture: Every design decision prioritized the reading experience, from typography choices to mobile optimization, ensuring that Mark’s compelling content could be consumed seamlessly across all devices.
Content Management Excellence: Custom publishing workflows that allow Mark to efficiently manage his weekly “Hot Seat” rankings, detailed coach analyses, and trending college football commentary without technical barriers.
Engagement Optimization: Built-in systems for community building, comment management, and subscriber interaction that transform casual readers into devoted fans of Mark’s analysis.
The technical foundation supports the massive traffic spikes during college football season – this week alone generated 116 new subscribers as we enter peak season, demonstrating the platform’s ability to convert surge traffic into long-term subscribers.
Jeff Payne / Marketing Strategist
[CONTENT STRATEGY] The content strategy leveraged Mark’s expertise to establish Coaches Hot Seat as the definitive authority on college football coaching analysis. Rather than competing with ESPN or major sports networks on breaking news, we helped Mark carve out a unique niche focusing on college coaching job security and in-depth analysis that traditional media doesn’t provide.
Weekly “Hot Seat” Rankings: Mark’s signature content format provides consistent value while building anticipation among subscribers. Each week’s rankings generate discussion and shareability across social platforms.
Long-Form Analysis: Mark’s storytelling ability shines in detailed coach profiles and situation analyses that keep readers engaged for the impressive 1+ minute average session duration.
SEO Authority Building: Strategic content creation around coaching searches, job security analysis, and college football insider perspectives that capture search traffic traditional sports sites miss.
Organic Search Dominance: 91K organic search sessions in the past 12 months demonstrate our success in capturing college football fans seeking deeper analysis than mainstream media provides.
The content quality creates a virtuous cycle: engaged readers become subscribers, subscribers become advocates, and word-of-mouth referrals drive additional organic growth without paid advertising spend.
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[EMAIL MARKETING] The email strategy achieves remarkable performance metrics that demonstrate the power of quality content combined with strategic audience development. With a 47.35% open rate – nearly double the industry average – subscribers genuinely anticipate Mark’s weekly insights.
Premium Engagement Metrics:
Subscriber Quality Over Quantity: Rather than pursuing massive subscriber numbers through lead magnets or promotions, we’ve focused on attracting genuine college football enthusiasts who value Mark’s unique perspective. This approach results in exceptional engagement rates and low unsubscribe numbers.
Content-Driven Growth: New subscriber acquisition (116 this week alone) happens organically as existing subscribers share Mark’s content and analysis with fellow college football fans.
The email performance validates our strategy of prioritizing content quality and subscriber value over quick monetization, creating a foundation for premium advertising opportunities as the audience continues to grow.
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[MONETIZATION STRATEGY] The delayed gratification approach is now paying dividends as Coaches Hot Seat attracts increasing advertiser interest. Weekly advertising inquiries validate our strategy of building audience quality and engagement before pursuing revenue.
Market Position: With 90K active users and premium engagement metrics, Coaches Hot Seat occupies a unique position in college football media – deep enough for serious fans, accessible enough for casual observers, and authoritative enough for industry professionals.
Advertiser Appeal: The combination of highly engaged audience, niche expertise, and seasonal traffic spikes creates an attractive advertising proposition for brands wanting to reach passionate college football fans.
Revenue Potential: Based on current traffic patterns and engagement metrics, the platform is positioned for significant advertising revenue as subscriber growth continues and peak college football season drives maximum traffic.
Tim Jones’s Assessment: “The site’s look & feel approach seems truly innovative” – industry recognition that validates our design and user experience decisions.
Jeff Payne / Marketing-SEO Strategist
[THE BOTTOM LINE] Coaches Hot Seat demonstrates how strategic website development, combined with exceptional content and patient audience building, creates sustainable digital media success. By prioritizing subscriber value over quick monetization, we’ve built a platform that serves Mark’s vision while creating genuine value for college football fans.
Key Success Factors
The results speak for themselves: 90,000 active users over 12 months, 47.35% email open rates, 1+ minute average engagement time showing quality audience, growing advertiser interest, and industry recognition for innovation. Mark’s content expertise, combined with strategic platform development, has transformed a dormant domain into a rising force in college football media.

[AI] Showing up in AI-powered search results is crucial because AI systems are increasingly becoming the primary way people discover information, products, and services, potentially replacing traditional search engines as the dominant discovery channel. If your content isn’t visible to AI search tools, you risk becoming invisible to a growing segment of users who rely on AI assistants for recommendations and information. Here’s where ALIGN Pilates Studios appears in various AI-powered search engines, as of June 4, 2025

[SEO] We created a comprehensive local SEO strategy that focused on dominating every angle of the Austin Pilates market. We started by going after all the high-intent local keywords – such as, “pilates,” “pilates austin,” “pilates studio austin,” anything someone would search when they’re actually looking to sign up for Pilates classes. We managed to get them ranking #1 for pretty much all of these money terms.
But here’s the smart part – we didn’t just focus on the transactional stuff. We also targeted informational queries like “is pilates cardio” and “is pilates strength training” to capture people earlier in their research phase. This way, we’re educating potential customers while building topical authority around Pilates as a subject and getting their email address so we can continue nurturing them with quality content.
We also made sure to optimize their Google Business Profiles for both locations – East and West – which is huge for local businesses. The results speak for themselves: they’ve got a 45.95% visibility score and they’re ranking #1 for 38 different keywords. They’re absolutely crushing competitors like Club Pilates and all the other local Pilates studios.
The strategy was really about owning the entire customer journey – from someone just learning about Pilates to someone ready to book their first class. And it worked – ALIGN is now the go-to Pilates brand when people search in Austin.

[INBOUND MARKETING] The Bottom Line: ALIGN Pilates Studios has built a thriving business by creating a comprehensive inbound marketing ecosystem that attracts clients through valuable content, community building, and strategic positioning as Austin’s premier Pilates destination.
Key Success Factors:
Clear Value Proposition and Brand Positioning: ALIGN has positioned itself as “Voted Best Pilates Studio in Austin” and emphasizes that “Community is what sets us apart.” This strong brand identity differentiates them from competitors and creates an emotional connection with potential clients.
Comprehensive Class Offerings for Target Segmentation: Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, ALIGN offers specialized classes for different skill levels and needs from beginner-friendly options like “Restore” and “Flow” classes to advanced offerings like “Burn,” “Jump,” and “Bodhi Burn.” There are also specialized programs and online programs. It does help that Brooke Bowersock, the owner, is one of the top Balanced Body Pilates trainers in the world. This This strategic segmentation allows them to capture a wider market while serving specific client needs effectively.
Educational Content Strategy: Their website features an extensive FAQ section addressing common concerns like “Is Pilates good for injuries?” and “Is Pilates safe for pregnancy?” This positions them as trusted experts and helps potential clients make informed decisions.
Low-Barrier Entry Points: ALIGN offers multiple ways for prospects to try their services, from free 20-minute Private Pilates Sessions discovery calls to new client speicals like the 1-Week Unlimited for $99 or 3-Week Unliited for $300. There are also multiple pricing tiers to accommodate different budgets and commitment levels.
Community-Focused Approach: The emphasis on community (“Community is what sets us apart”) and connecting with clients personally (“We connect with you and get to know you”) creates strong client loyalty and encourages word-of-mouth referrals – a cornerstone of inbound marketing.
Professional Development and Credibility: ALIGN offers Balanced Body curriculum teacher training, positioning themselves as industry leaders and attracting serious practitioners who become advocates for the studio.
Why This Inbound Strategy Works:
Educational Authority: By answering common questions and providing detailed class descriptions, ALIGN builds trust and reduces the intimidation factor often associated with trying Pilates for the first time.
Multiple Touch Points: From discovery calls to intro packages to teacher training, they create numerous ways for prospects to engage at their comfort level.
Community-Driven Growth: Word-of-mouth referrals are particularly powerful in the fitness industry, and ALIGN’s community focus leverages this natural marketing channel.
Local Market Dominance: With two Austin locations and strong local branding, they’ve established themselves as the go-to Pilates destination in their market.
The success of ALIGN’s inbound marketing lies in creating genuine value for their community while systematically addressing every stage of the customer journey – from initial awareness through long-term retention and advocacy. This approach we took demonstrates that effective inbound marketing for fitness studios requires both strategic positioning and authentic community building.

[CONTENT MARKETING] Our content marketing strategy for ALIGN Pilates Studios was built on meticulous competitive intelligence and market analysis across the entire Austin metroplex. We conducted an exhaustive audit of every major Pilates competitor – from Club Pilates and Pure Pilates Austin to smaller boutique studios like Ritual Moves and Soma Space Pilates – identifying content gaps and opportunities in the local market.
This research revealed that while competitors were creating generic fitness content, there was a massive opportunity to establish ALIGN as the authoritative voice on Pilates education, benefits, and technique in Austin. Our team developed a content strategy that positioned ALIGN not just as another studio, but as the definitive Pilates resource for the Austin community.
Every piece of content was strategically crafted by our human writing team to target specific search intents while maintaining ALIGN’s authentic brand voice. Rather than relying on AI-generated content, we invested in genuine expertise and local market knowledge to create articles, guides, and resources that truly served the Austin Pilates community. Topics like “Is Pilates Cardio or Strength Training” and comprehensive guides on Pilates benefits were written with both search optimization and genuine user value in mind. We implemented proper Schema markup on every content piece, ensuring search engines could easily understand and categorize the content, which contributed significantly to ALIGN’s ability to capture featured snippets and dominate informational search results.
The results speak volumes about this approach – ALIGN now ranks #1 for crucial informational queries that competitors completely missed, capturing users at the very beginning of their Pilates journey. This content strategy worked synergistically with our technical SEO efforts, creating a content ecosystem that not only drives organic traffic but establishes trust and expertise before prospects even visit the studio.
By combining deep competitive analysis, human-authored content, and technical optimization, we created a content marketing machine that transforms casual searchers into educated prospects who already view ALIGN as the premium choice in Austin’s competitive Pilates landscape.

[EMAIL MARKETING] The ALIGN Pilates Studios has been incredibly effective, creating a powerful one-two punch alongside the SEO dominance. With 13 strategic email campaigns reaching 95,150 recipients and maintaining an exceptional 98.8% delivery rate, we built a robust communication channel that keeps ALIGN top-of-mind for their Austin community.
The 30.44% open rate significantly outperforms industry averages for fitness businesses, while the low 1.4% unsubscribe rate shows we are delivering content that genuinely resonates with their audience rather than just pushing sales messages.
Where our strategy really shines is in the automated marketing journeys, which are absolutely crushing it with a 63.8% open rate and an impressive 11.9% click rate – that’s nearly 8x higher engagement than the broadcast campaigns. This means we have nailed the personalization and timing aspect, delivering the right content at the right moment in each customer’s journey.
The microscopic 0.3% unsubscribe rate on these automated sequences proves that when people receive targeted, relevant content based on their behavior and stage in the customer lifecycle, they not only stay engaged but actively interact with your brand.
Our email marketing strategy perfectly complements the SEO work by nurturing the traffic we’re driving from those #1 rankings. While SEO brings new prospects to ALIGN’s door, our content marketing keeps existing clients engaged, drives retention, and creates a community around the brand.
The transactional emails also play a crucial role in this ecosystem too – confirming class bookings, sending reminders, and providing post-workout follow-ups that enhance the overall customer experience. Together, these efforts create a comprehensive digital marketing machine that not only attracts new customers but builds lasting relationships that drive long-term business growth.

[LOGO REFRESH] ALIGN was open to exploring a completely new logo design, but after reviewing their existing mark, we agreed it already had strong design integrity and captured the tone and personality we wanted to build on. Rather than starting from scratch, we refined what was working—making subtle improvements to the main logo and introducing a cleaner, more versatile strapline. We also consolidated multiple branch variations into one unified logo, creating a stronger, more consistent brand identity moving forward.

[BRAND DEVELOPMENT] With the refreshed logo approved, we moved into full brand development. Our first priority was defining a warm, friendly, yet professional color palette that reflected ALIGN’s personality and values. From there, we built a comprehensive brand manual—including logo usage guidelines, typography, imagery direction, and color specifications. We also explored creative applications for branded apparel, merchandise, and giftable items—laying the groundwork for a cohesive and memorable brand experience across all touchpoints.

[NEW WEBSITE DESIGN] The new website design for ALIGN Pilates Studios represents a masterclass in strategic web development that seamlessly blends form and function to support both user experience and search engine optimization.
The custom design immediately establishes credibility with prominent social proof – “Voted Best Pilates Studio in Austin” – positioned front and center, while the clean, professional aesthetic reflects the premium nature of their service offering.
The site architecture follows a logical user journey, guiding visitors from initial interest through class selection to booking, with clear navigation between their Austin West and East locations.
The UX design excels in addressing the primary user intent – helping prospects find the right Pilates class for their experience level – through an intuitive class filtering system and detailed descriptions that remove barriers to booking.
From a technical SEO perspective, the website demonstrates sophisticated implementation of structured data and metadata optimization. Each class type includes detailed Schema markup that helps search engines understand the content hierarchy and service offerings, contributing directly to ALIGN’s ability to rank for specific class-related queries.
The internal linking strategy is particularly well-executed, with contextual links to informational content like “Is Pilates good for weight loss?” and “Pilates vs Yoga” that keep users engaged while supporting the topical authority we’ve built through content marketing.
The pricing structure is presented transparently with proper Schema for local business information, making it easy for both users and search engines to understand service offerings and locations.
The website’s analytics implementation supports comprehensive customer journey tracking, allowing for data-driven optimization of conversion paths from organic search traffic. The booking flow is streamlined and mobile-optimized, recognizing that many users discover ALIGN through local mobile searches. Integration with scheduling systems, clear calls-to-action for both group classes and private sessions, and the teacher training program showcase creates multiple conversion opportunities while maintaining a cohesive brand experience. This technical foundation, combined with the SEO-optimized content strategy and local search dominance, creates a powerful digital ecosystem that transforms website visitors into studio members at industry-leading conversion rates.
